The Virginia Department Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) is accepting applications for the State Opioid Response-funded Faith-Based Mini Grants Program for Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2025. This is a competitive grant, the funding for which ends on 9/29/2025.
These faith-based mini grants are designed to strengthen faith-based organizations' efforts to support individuals living with behavioral health concerns. Grants will be available in amounts up to $30,000 and may be used to fund non-religious activities. These funds will help expand prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery services that are critical to assisting with lessening opioid misuse and opioid-related deaths.
These guidelines provide detailed guidance to aid applicants in determining eligibility, justifying need, developing itemized budgets and budget narratives, and completing other related forms. Using the guidance presented in this document, applicants can efficiently and effectively prepare complete applications.

Amount Available and Application Process
Applicants may request up to $30,000 total for the period of their grant application.
Applicants are required to submit an overview of their grant activities proposal, along with organizational information, for their pre-application. Applicants who pass the pre-application will be invited to submit a full application. Applicants invited to submit a full application should submit a detailed program description, outcomes, and budget requesting the anticipated amount needed for the successful implementation of activities.
DBHDS has the discretion to make awards for greater or lesser amounts than requested and to negotiate the scope of work and budget with applicants prior to making an award. Award amounts for all categories are contingent upon the availability of funding and thoroughness of application, including justification of need.
